Diego Borras is an independent specialist in cask procurement, working primarily with whisky maturation while also collaborating on selected beer projects. Through his work, he has developed extensive expertise in the influence of casks on flavour development, maturation character and product quality.

He is the organiser of Whisky Live Madrid and a certified WSET Level 3 educator in Spirits, Sherry and Brandy, regularly sharing his knowledge with both trade professionals and enthusiasts. Diego has a particular passion for whisky and Sherry, with his work often bridging the historic and technical relationship between these two categories.

His experience across education, events and maturation consultancy provides valuable technical and commercial insight to the Global Drinks Awards judging panel.
